The Black-banded Fruit Dove is marked by a white head and upper chest, a black breast band, and a grey back. It has a limited range on Australia's Arnhem Land Plateau.
The head, neck, and upper chest are white, ending in a black band across the lower chest. The back and wings are slate grey; the rump and tip of the upper tail are white.
It searches for fruit, especially native figs, along sandstone escarpments in monsoonal forest and riparian vegetation beside creek beds. The account draws largely on the author's and contributors' field observations.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
