Baird’s Sparrow lives in North American grasslands. It has a short tail and a flat head, and runs through grass while looking for food.
Males and females look similar. The tail is short and the head is flat, sometimes with an ocher tone. The whitish chest has dark streaks, and the back is also finely streaked.
It walks among grass clumps while foraging on the ground, usually alone. In summer it eats insects, spiders, and seeds; in other seasons, weed and grass seeds make up most of its diet. Its nest is hidden on the ground in grass.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
