This hummingbird lives in Colombia’s humid lowlands and river-edge forest. Males show a blue-violet throat against glossy green plumage, and it feeds mainly at flowers.
The male is glossy green, with a blue-violet throat, a small pale spot behind the eye, and a dark blue, slightly forked tail. The female is duller.
It takes nectar and also eats small insects and spiders. It uses humid forest edges and vegetation beside water.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
