Spurrell's trumpet-eared bat is a small bat with brown fur. A Nigerian survey captured it in forest near rivers and streams, adding a new country record.
It is described as the smallest African Kerivoula. Its plain coat ranges from dark to light reddish brown, and it lacks a fringe comb of hairs along the rear edge of the interfemoral membrane.
In Nigeria, captures came from lowland forest at sites at varying distances from rivers and streams, across elevations of 150–1,250 m.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
