This pipit is recorded mainly in Argentina's central Pampas. It has been observed in alfalfa and soybean fields and in natural grassland. Related pipits can be difficult to separate in the field; overall color, the outer tail feathers, and the hind claw are among the identification characters discussed in the paper.
