This white-eye was described from Wangi-Wangi Island. A later field survey also recorded it on Simpora, about 450 m to the south.
The description paper distinguishes it from regional white-eyes by its considerably larger body and bill.
A 2024 field survey recorded it feeding on plants and insects in low shrubs and trees. Observed foods included Ficus fruit, insects associated with Gmelina flowers, and Morinda nectar. The birds were mainly found in thick shrubs, mixed plantations, and mixed forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
