This active little bird has yellow underparts and white around the eyes. It joins mixed-species flocks in high-elevation cloud forest and searches for insects.
It has slate-gray head and upperparts, a rufous crown, bright yellow underparts, white spectacles, and white highlights on the tail.
It often forages in mixed-species flocks in the canopy and middle levels of high-elevation cloud forest. It eats insects while flashing its wings and tail.
It lives in montane forest and elfin forest with low-growing trees.
