This small rodent lives in rocky dry country in Namibia and southwestern Angola. Adults have gray-brown fur, and rocky outcrops provide places to shelter.
The adult coat is brown with a gray tone, a subdued color among the rocky landscapes it inhabits.
Rocky outcrops can be widely separated in the arid landscape and provide shelter and protection from predators.
