This fossorial mammal is locally recorded in Limpopo Province, South Africa.
It resembles other golden moles; slender claws and the presence of a third molar help distinguish it.
It lives underground and uses moist, sandy soil along watercourses.
Adults are solitary except when with young, and become more active underground after rain.
