The Congo golden mole is small, with a creamy muzzle contrasting with its dark back. It favors soft soils in forest habitats, while species-specific feeding records are scarce.
Its back ranges from dark brown to dark gray and becomes slightly paler underneath. Pale cream coloring on the muzzle extends sideways toward the ears.
It is associated mainly with soft sandy or loamy soils in montane rainforest, forest–savanna mosaics, and lowland equatorial forest. No specific diet information is available; it is thought to be primarily insectivorous.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
