The Flat-billed Kingfisher lives on Samoa. It uses dry and moist tropical forest, coasts, farmland, and urban areas, searching for food on the ground and in forests and eating invertebrates and lizards.
Its bill is very broad and low, so it appears flattened.
Adults weigh about 45 g. A 1952 field report lists worms, insects, and lizards; a 2016 study also records large insects and lizards as food in cooler montane forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
