A kingfisher endemic to the Palau Archipelago. It is smaller than the Collared Kingfisher subspecies living on the same islands and uses forest interior.
Its crown is orange. A study found it to have about half the body mass of the sympatric Collared Kingfisher subspecies.
It uses forest interior, unlike the sympatric Collared Kingfisher subspecies, which prefers coconut groves and beaches.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
