This small bat has records from West to East Africa. Surveys in Kenya found it in grassland, thorn scrub, and mosaics of woodland and forest.
The fur is dark slate at the base, with buff tips on the back and dull-white tips underneath. The different-colored tips make the upper and lower fur look different.
Kenyan records include dense thorn scrub, grassland, open woodland along the Athi River, and coastal forest. These are habitats at several survey localities, not proof of preference for one habitat type.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
