The Aloe Bat has a disjunct range in eastern and southern Africa. It occurs in dry grassland and shrubland, acacia woodland, and savanna.
Head-body length is about 40–45 mm. Its fur is soft and dense, medium brown above and paler gray-brown underneath.
It catches moths and beetles by slow flight in cluttered spaces near tree canopies, woodland openings, and buildings. A pregnant female was recorded in Malawi in October.
The wing membranes are dark brown and slightly translucent.
The ears are brown, relatively short and triangular, with rounded tips.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
