The male's white crescent-shaped breast patch helps identify this fruit-eating pigeon. It lives mainly in mountain forests and feeds on fruit in the canopy.
The adult male is dark green. The forehead and front of the crown are reddish purple; a pale crescent marks the breast, with a purple patch at the center of the belly and yellow lower underparts.
It mainly takes fruit from branches high in the forest canopy. It is usually solitary or in pairs, though several may gather at fruiting trees.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
