The Golden-capped Conure lives in forests and along forest edges in eastern Brazil, where it eats fruit and seeds.
In adults of the nominate subspecies, the forehead and area around the eyes are orange-red, the forecrown is yellow, and the lower breast and belly show red. Another subspecies differs in head and breast color.
In the wild it eats fruit and seeds and is often seen in flocks.
