This bat occurs in eastern Madagascar. Specimens in the study had medium-brown fur mixed with lighter hairs, with some variation in shade. The type specimen was trapped along a trail in degraded lowland forest.
The type specimen had slightly long, dense fur, medium brown mixed with distinctly lighter brown hairs. Other specimens varied toward darker or somewhat lighter brown.
The type specimen was caught in a harp trap along a trail in degraded lowland forest at Sahafina.
