This leaf-nosed bat ranges through Central America and northern and eastern South America. On Barro Colorado Island in Panama, researchers recorded insect gleaning and males excavating roost cavities in active termite nests.
The species-page photograph in MDD shows the nose leaf at the front of the face and rounded ears. Its caption does not establish coat color.
In a Panama study, males of this insect-eating bat excavated and maintained cavities inside active arboreal termite nests. This is a regional observation, not a description of roosts across the whole range.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
