This rodent is recorded in montane forest around Anjozorobe in central-eastern Madagascar. Its tail tip lacks a tuft and has fine white hairs.
All three examined specimens lacked a terminal tail tuft; fine white hairs covered the final roughly 25–30 mm of the tail.
The holotype was trapped in montane humid forest, in a trap placed on a Uapaca branch about 1.5 m above the ground. This is the capture record of one specimen.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
