This leaf-nosed fruit bat is recorded in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. It has contrasting pale stripes on the back and face, and a field report documented leaf tents used as daytime roosts in one forest fragment.
The 2010 species account describes a dark brown to gray back, paler underparts, a broad white stripe along the back, and pale facial stripes.
In one degraded Brazilian Atlantic Forest fragment, researchers documented two daytime tents made from folded Miconia brunnea leaves; one male used both tents during the same night.
