This laughingthrush is restricted to a few mountains in central Vietnam. It forages on the ground in montane evergreen forest understory and has golden wing markings.
It is about 26 cm long, with a chestnut crown and nape, black lores, grey ear-coverts and back, and an olive-brown tail. The black wings have golden bases to the flight feathers.
It uses the understory of montane evergreen forest at about 2,000–2,200 m and searches for invertebrates on the ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
