This grayish-brown sparrow has a faint eye-ring. It feeds on the ground in dry grasslands, and breeding males sing as they rise and float back down through the air.
It is grayish-brown with a faint eye-ring. In the breeding display, a male sings while rising, then descends with stiff wings and a fanned tail.
In dry grassland it hops along the ground for seeds and insects. Seeds make up more of its winter diet; in summer it eats many insects, including grasshoppers.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
