The Dark-fronted Babbler often stays hidden near the ground, and its dark head pattern varies among subspecies.
It has a short, square-tipped tail, yellow eyes, and white underparts. The nominate form has a black crown and cheek; other forms can be sooty or brown.
It skulks near the ground, often in parties of up to a dozen, and sometimes joins other babblers in mixed groups. It feeds on insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
