The Burrowing Parakeet lives in open country in Chile and Argentina. Its white eye ring and yellow-red belly are distinctive, and it nests in burrows in banks and cliffs.
The chest is grayish, while the lower belly shows yellow and reddish coloring. A white ring surrounds each eye.
Flocks search the ground and low shrubs for seeds and other plant foods. For breeding, the birds use long burrows in banks and cliffs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
