This green South American parrot can raise the feathers on the back of its head into a fan when scared or excited.
Its back, wings, and tail are green, while grey and red feathers edged in blue cover the breast, belly, vent, and base of the neck. Adults have yellow eyes, and the sexes look alike.
It eats fruits, berries, seeds, nuts, buds, and leaves. It is usually found in pairs or small groups of three to seven birds.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
