This white-eye is endemic to the highlands of Savai‘i in Samoa. It moves in small flocks and has also been recorded in secondary scrub on lava fields.
It is dull green above and pale greenish yellow below. A narrow white eye-ring is interrupted at the front; the wings and tail are dark with greener edges.
It was common above about 1,100 m on Savai‘i, with some records down to around 1,000 m. Observations led authors to suggest daily or seasonal movement, not confirmed by tracking.
It moves in flocks and was recorded in secondary scrub on the Mata o le Afi lava flow.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
