This bat has records from the southern Amazon region of Brazil. Reports describe tree cavities and caves as roosts, although cave records are relatively uncommon.
There is a white spot near the distal tip of the wing membrane and another between digits IV and V.
Published reports describe roosts in cavities of standing trees and in caves. Caves are used, but the review found them less commonly reported than for other vampire bats.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
