MDD lists the Lesser Northern Free-tailed Bat as Mops johorensis. It is identified by a complex band joining the ears and has records in Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra.
A complex interaural band joining the ears is a key identifying feature. As in other free-tailed bats, the tail extends beyond the flight membrane.
At Belukar Bukit, a waterfall recreation site in secondary forest, one bat was captured in a canopy mist net about 20.65 m above the ground. This was reported as a new locality record.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
