The Black-winged Petrel breeds on islands in the southwest Pacific and moves north and east across the Pacific outside the breeding period.
This is a small, compact petrel with gray-and-white plumage and an almost complete gray collar.
It nests in burrows among scrub or tussock grass at breeding colonies. Diet information is limited, but it is known to take cephalopods and prawns near the surface.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
