The Swamp Sparrow lives in wetlands from central Canada to the eastern United States. Its rusty cap and wings stand out, and it searches for food in shallow water.
Rusty coloring marks the crown and wings, while the back and sides show brown, gray, and black patterning.
It wades in shallow water on long legs and sometimes puts its head underwater to catch aquatic invertebrates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
