Ihering’s Three-striped Opossum is a small opossum with three dark lines on its back. It carries leaf litter to line a nest in soft soil and eats insects and small animals.
The back is brown with three dark-brown stripes: one from the ears to the tail base and two from the shoulders toward the rump. The belly is orange-cream. The short, thick tail is dark above and orange-cream below.
It lives on the ground and is apparently active by day. It makes a nest in soft soil and carries leaf litter inside with its tail. Its reported foods include insects, small birds, and small mammals.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
