The Jamaican long-tongued bat is endemic to Jamaica and is now treated by the MDD as Glossophaga antillarum. Older field records were published under the subspecies name G. soricina antillarum.
It has an elongated muzzle and strongly forward-projecting upper incisors. In the historical comparison, the Jamaican population had larger external and cranial dimensions and paler fur.
Jamaican surveys netted bats at a dry cave entrance, over streams and rivers, in scrub, orchards and plantations, and around pastures. These are historical records for the Jamaican population, not a complete modern habitat-preference study.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
