Redthroat is a bird of inland shrublands in Australia. The NSW profile places the state’s records in its far west and describes quiet foraging among low shrubs and on the ground.
The upperparts are dark grey-brown and the lowerparts are paler. Males have a rufous throat patch; in females that area is off-white or cream.
It feeds on terrestrial invertebrates and grass seeds gathered from the ground and low foliage. The profile says it is usually solitary or in pairs and flies quickly between shrubs when disturbed.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
