This bat has a reddish-brown back and was recorded in forest in southeastern Peru. The original paper used the name Lonchophylla pattoni; the current Mammal Diversity Database page uses Hsunycteris pattoni.
The specimen described in the original paper had reddish-brown fur on the back and paler fur underneath.
The type specimen was caught in a plot of terra firme forest at Cusco Amazónico in southeastern Peru, in a ground-level mist net set for birds. This is a single capture record, not evidence of its usual flight behavior or height.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
