This nectar-feeding bat is recorded in Colombia and Ecuador. A 2022 study reported a specimen collected in primary forest in the Colombian Chocó and confirmed diagnostic projections at the back of the skull.
The collected specimen had lateral projections behind the eye sockets. Its skull was longer than 20 mm and its forearm shorter than 34.5 mm; the paper lists a head-and-body length of 53.43 mm for that individual.
It is nectar-feeding. In the 2022 range-extension study, one individual was caught in well-stratified primary forest in the Colombian Chocó using a net set about 12 m above the ground. This single capture does not establish its full habitat preference.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
