The tricolored big-eared bat is a small bat found in the Neotropics. Its back fur has three bands: dark at the base and tip, with a lighter band between them. It is also recorded in the southern Brazilian Atlantic Forest.
The dorsal fur is banded in three colors: it is dark gray at the base and tip, with a lighter band in the middle.
It can use primary forest as well as mature secondary forest. In eastern South America it is rarely recorded in fragmented forests; the study examined climate and forest cover as possible factors.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
