The Black Skimmer is a waterbird of American coasts, estuaries, and lagoons. It catches small fish by flying just above the water with its longer lower bill cutting the surface.
It has a black head and back, white forehead and underparts, and a red-orange bill with a black tip. The lower mandible extends farther than the upper one.
Northern North American populations move south around November and winter in the southern United States, the Caribbean, or South America.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
