The Club-winged Manakin lives in humid forests of southwestern Colombia and northwestern Ecuador. Males use their wings to make mechanical sounds during display.
Females have subdued olive-green plumage. Males have a chestnut body and red crown, with thickened white shafts on the black upper surface of the wings.
Males observed at Reserva Maquipucuna in Ecuador made sounds with their wings at display sites. These sounds were a major part of their territorial displays.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
