This cuscus is known from montane western Papua New Guinea. Rock crevices have been reported as sleeping places, but little is known about its diet or habits.
Its back is gray with black- and silver-tipped guard hairs and a broad dark stripe from the head along the back. The underside is white, and the tip of the tail is hairless.
Only three specimens were known from the Telefomin area. The holotype was reported sleeping among rocks, and local Telefol people said rock crevices were used more often than tree hollows.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
