This white-eye is restricted to Mayotte. It searches among leaves for small prey in dry forest, scrub, mangroves, and gardens.
An adult is about warbler-sized, with a broad white eye-ring, bright yellow underparts, and olive-yellow-green upperparts. The chest sides and flanks are beige-orange. The sexes show no obvious difference; juveniles are greener below and duller overall.
It uses dry forest inland and along the coast, low scrub in open places, mangroves, and public or private gardens. It joins foraging parties, keeps contact with sharp calls, and inspects leaves for prey. Its food includes nectar, insects, fruit, and berries.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
