A western North American warbler form. IOC 15.1 treats Audubon's Warbler as a separate species, while Cornell's bird guide includes it as a western form of the Yellow-rumped Warbler.
The western form has a yellow throat, and males show more white in the wings. Females are grayer and lack the prominent dark ear patches seen in males.
In summer it uses open conifer forests and their edges. This description is limited to the western form and does not generalize traits from other forms or overlap zones.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
