This small leaf-warbler breeds in western China. Its breeding forest and pale facial and crown stripes help describe it.
It has greenish upperparts and pale underparts, a bold white eyebrow, a pale crown stripe, a pale rump, one strong wingbar, and a fainter second bar.
In its breeding area, the account places it in deciduous forest with spruce and juniper.
