This flycatcher lives in the Solomon Islands. The sexes differ in plumage, and birds catch flying insects in the canopy and along forest edges.
The male is dark blue with a metallic sheen. The female is dark above, with reddish-brown throat and breast.
Pairs forage in open canopy and along forest edges, catching flying insects. They may join mixed-species flocks. On Kolombangara, the species was recorded in floodplain and canopy-edge forest up to about 1,200 m.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
