The Ua Pou Monarch (Pomarea mira) is known from Ua Pou in French Polynesia. It is critically endangered and may already be extinct.
In the 2004 taxonomy, this bird was treated as P. mendozae mira. Adult males were described as black; adult females of the mira form had black and white plumage.
Sources describe it using forest and feeding mainly on invertebrates. These ecology notes summarize earlier studies; they are not a recent observation confirming that the species survives.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
