This small pika lives in high grasslands and steppes of the Tibetan Plateau and has no obvious visible tail. Meadow populations are known to gather and store plants.
It has a plump body and a tail that is scarcely visible. Its lips are black, and the back ranges from brown to reddish tan.
Meadow populations may gather plants into hay piles, while strong winds in desert areas make it difficult to build such stores.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
