The Malaita Monarch occurs only on Malaita in the eastern Solomon Islands. Researchers describe differences in its breast and tail pattern from related monarchs.
Its black breast patch extends to the sides, the lower patch has white scalloping, and the outer tail feathers are white with bluish-black tips.
One nest collected on Malaita in 1930 was a deep, rigid cup made with fine plant fibres and bryophytes.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
