A manakin of the humid Chocó from eastern Panama through western Colombia to north-western Ecuador. The IOC lists it separately from Green Manakin based on plumage and vocal differences.
Compared with Green Manakin, its back is yellow-green rather than leaf-green, and the throat, chest, and flanks are greyer and more olive-toned. The regional account also describes a larger bill in males.
It uses the understory of humid lowland and foothill forest; the regional profile places this habitat below 1,500 m.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
