The Azure-naped Jay is a large jay of lowland northern South America. Its blue-grey body contrasts with a pale sky-blue nape and white-tipped tail feathers.
It is about 33–36 cm long. The forehead and sides of the head are black, the nape is pale blue, and the back and wings are bluish grey with a violet tinge. The tail feathers have narrow white tips; the sexes look alike.
It uses lowland forest edges, secondary growth, and savanna woodland on sandy soils. The cited account gives records from about 100–250 m elevation.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
