This tuco-tuco is reported from sandy ground in extreme southern Paraguay. The monograph gives body lengths by sex but says that detailed behavioral information is lacking.
The species account describes a medium-sized tuco-tuco with head-and-body lengths of 189–209 mm in males and 169–177 mm in females.
The reference book reports it from fine sandy soils, often around manioc plantations. It also says that detailed ecological information is scarce.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
