The painted treeshrew lives in lowland forest on Borneo. A faint stripe on its back helps distinguish it from similar plain-coated relatives.
A faint darker stripe pattern runs along the back and helps distinguish it from similar plain-coated relatives.
It is active by day and searches for insects and fruit on the ground and in low vegetation. Wild records are scarce, so much of its behavior remains poorly documented.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
